Famed daughter of Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean Cobain has made her modelling debut starring in Marc Jacobs’ SS17 campaign. This sees her follow in the footsteps of her mother, who appeared in last season’s campaign alongside Marilyn Manson.

News of Frances Bean Cobain becoming the face of Marc Jacobs came, as the American fashion designer posted an image from the campaign on his personal Instagram account. Talking about his reasoning for using the famed artst, “I first met Frances Bean when she was two years old at a dinner with her mom [Love] and Anna Sui in 1994 at Bar Six in NYC. I have always wanted to work with Frances. Her beauty, uniqueness, and strength is something I have long admired and respected”.

He added, “Few things remain as constant as my continued inspiration from those whose honesty, integrity, courage, and curiosity lead them to explore and venture beyond preconceived boundaries”.

Shot by Jacobs’ long-time collaborator David Sims, Cobain appears in the campaign modelling a lace dress embroidered with sequins from the designer’s “rave-inspired” SS17 collection. This range debuted at New York Fashion Week last September.

Despite this being Cobain’s modelling debut, this is not the first time that she has been seen in front of a lense. She was seen back in 2011 for a series of portrait shots by Hedi Slimane in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, as a part of his ‘Rock Diary’.

More information of the forthcoming SS17 range can be found on Marc Jacobs’ website.
